Norway-based recruitment company Seafood People has hired Merethe Holte as Director of Strategy and Growth, expanding its global management consulting division.

Holte has worked within the seafood industry over the last seven years, mainly as Business Development and Corporate Procurement Director at Insula.

She starts her new role in January 2021.

At Insula, Holte contributed in achieving ambitious growth targets while spearheading the development and implementation of the corporate strategy.

She played key roles in company acquisitions, drove product innovation of consumer brands, and developed strategic alliances in the retail and food service channels increasing Insula’s distribution footprint across the Nordic countries.

Her career history also includes leadership roles in the Nordic food group, Agra and the international consulting company Kearney.

She has held board positions at SalMar, Sjomat Norge, and Insula’s subsidiaries in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

"Adding Merethe to our team reflects our focused effort to be the leading provider of critical services to the seafood industry," said Thomas Bakke, managing director of Seafood People.

"The world has changed significantly this year and we see a tremendous opportunity to assist the industry in the ever-evolving business landscape. Merethe’s experience in strategy, project management, and business development will make her a tremendous asset to our clients."

In spite of an unprecedented year, Holte said she is looking ahead and feels excited about the opportunities presented to the seafood industry in 2021 and beyond.

"I strongly resonate with Seafood People’s vision and mission," she said.

"I am passionate about what the seafood industry means to the world and to Norway, both in terms of health, sustainability and economy. I see this as an ideal role to maximize my skill set and elevate how consulting services are delivered to our industry."
