Alan Cook has resigned from his position as COO at New Zealand King Salmon (NZKS).
CEO Grant Rosewarne thanked Cook and said his experience had been "valuable" in introducing improved farm practices with Single Year Class and upwelling to counter warming sea temperatures in the Marlborough Sounds where a large part of the company's salmon farming takes place. "We are disappointed to see him leave and wish him all the best for the future.”
Cook had moved from his position as VP, fish for Marel in Seattle to join NZKS last February.
He was well established in the seafood industry before joining the southern hemisphere salmon farmer, as VP at US-based Icicle Seafoods for over six years, in charge of their salmon farming operations, GM at Cooke's Chilean producer Salmones Cupquelan and production manager for Marine Harvest (now Mowi).
Cook will be returning to Canada with his family, and his last day with the Company will be Sept. 10.
New Zealand King Salmon has commenced an executive search to replace Cook.
