Krill producer Aker Biomarine named Christina Ianssen as manager of sustainability and public affairs as the company strengthens efforts within the sustainability scope.
Since joining Aker Biomarine, Ianssen has been involved in several projects within the company's supply chain.
She comes from a background in environmental policy and regulatory coupled with practical experience in tech innovation in maritime and green build sectors.
Prior to jumping ship to Aker Biomarine, Ianssen was senior advisor for the environmental organization Bellona.
Last year, the company appointed Runa Haug Khoury as sustainability director. Khoury told IntraFish dialogue and diplomacy are at the core of the company's operations as they navigate a biologically and politically sensitive fishery.
In October, Aker Biomarine secured an 'A' rating from the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) for the fifth year in a row, signifying that its krill fishery, Antarctic Southern Ocean Krill, is in "very good condition."
The company has also partnered with non-governmental organization Greenpeace to protect the Antarctic.
In less than three months, companies from Chile, Korea and China negotiated voluntary measures to protect areas where penguins breed.
Aker Biomarine, owned by Norwegian magnate Kjell Inge Rokke, announced earlier this week it intends offering up to 18.5 million shares in a private placement ahead of listing on Oslo Stock's Exchange alternative Merkur Market.
