Chile-based Multiexport Foods has appointed Jose Miguel Barros as a board director, replacing Rodrigo Perez Mackenna, who announced his departure in April.

He was also appointed as a member of the Directors' Committee.

Barros previously served on the Multiexport board from 2007 to 2009.

He is currently a partner and director of corporate finance at LarrainVial and serves as director of telecommunications company Stel Chile.

Multiexport’s board now includes Jose Ramon Gutierrez as executive president, with directors Elke Schwarz, Martin Borda, Alberto del Pedregal, Hernan Goyanes, Carlos Pucci and Barros.

Additionally, in a board session of the group’s salmon farming subsidiary, Salmones Multiexport, Martin Jose Borda took over as director of the board, replacing Hernan Goyanes. The deputy director of the board will be Carlos Pucci.

Like other Chilean salmon farmers, Multiexport weathered a difficult 2020. The company swung to a $26.4 million (€22.5 million) fourth-quarter operating loss last year, the result of low salmon prices and the pandemic fallout.
