Antonsen’s knowledge of bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, and programing will add particular value to the company’s clients breeding programs, said Benchmark in a release.

Earlier this year, the company's Icelandic division announced plans to increase production capacity of Atlantic salmon eggs by building a new incubation center holding an annual capacity of 300 million ova.

The company was founded in 2000 and listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in 2013. Benchmark Genetics is a leader in aquaculture genetics with five in-house breeding programs focusing on salmon, shrimp and tilapia.
