Ramakanta Nayak has been appointed group marketing director for Permira-owned Taiwanese feed giant Grobest.

Nayak comes from three years as general manager at Trouw Nutrition's Asia Pacific team in Thailand, before which he was commercial director at Nutreco, also based in Thailand where he set up the company's feed additives business regional unit in Bangkok.

Past experience also includes almost five years at feed additives business Novus International.

Under Permira's ownership, Taiwanese feed giant Grobest has growth on its mind, CEO Samson Li told IntraFish in January. And while it has capacity to do this organically in most markets, it will also be pursuing mergers and acquisitions, both inside and outside Asia, said Li.

"We are actively scouting for opportunities," said Li. "We are looking for companies of a certain size with the same vision and ambitions that can help us have a bigger presence."

A family-owned firm until funds managed by European private equity firm Permira bought a 50 percent stake in the company in November 2018, the new investor is ambitious to make Grobest a global company.
