It was another busy week in the world of seafood news and, as always, IntraFish journalists were at the forefront of all the industry's biggest stories.

Last week was the annual China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE) in Qingdao, and IntraFish, the Official Media Sponsor of the show, was there to bring you all the news -- both in English and in Mandarin.

As usual the show was a goldmine of seafood news but to highlight just a couple, we broke how Pacific Andes signed a strategic partnership with Alibaba subsidiary Win-Chain to supply branded and private label products through the e-commerce giant's national network.

We also told how Chinese tilapia giant Baiyang has cut its reliance on the US market in the wake of tariff increases and is focusing on new markets.

But it wasn't all about China last week.

We also revealed how Skretting is shutting down its UK feed operations amid a salmon feed oversupply, but the company's CEO Therese Log-Bergjord told Lola Navarro, the move is far from being a step away from salmon.

Meanwhile, Rachel Sapin revealed how Mexican bass producer Pacifico is moving into Whole Foods and Disney following last year's private equity (PE) acquisition.

Speaking of private equity, the company 8F Asset Management told Dominic Welling how now is the ideal time for investing in land-based salmon farming, and said it has ambitious plans to reach a production target of 260,000 metric tons per year across a global network of facilities.

John Evans was in Chile last week reporting from the 12th annual Sea Lice conference in Punta Arenas.

He also reported how India's shrimp production expected to come in below forecasts this year.

Earnings season was also in full swing last week, with the likes of Thai Union, AquaBounty, Norway Royal Salmon, Nichirei, Bakkafrost, Benchmark, Grieg, Leroy, Austevoll, SalMar, Arnarlax, Clearwater, High Liner, Nomad and Pacific Andes all reporting figures over the week.

We had a couple of video follow ups from the CEOs of Leroy and Austevoll, as well.

Late on Friday, the news broke of the Alaska Department of Game (ADFG) releasing its 2019 Bristol Bay forecast, while Alexa Tonkovich, executive director of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), also announced her resignation.

The weekend also saw Peru's ministry of production (Produce) open the second anchovy fishing season and the resulting quota.
