The plans by UK retailer WM Morrison Supermarkets to set up its own seafood processing plant in Grimsby is great news for the town and industry, suppliers in Grimsby, UK, said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Grimsby,” Pete Dalton, who runs the fish merchant Ocean Bounty and is one of the owners of The Great Grimsby Seafood Village, said.
The Grimsby Fish Merchants Association (FMA) and two other Grimsby-based suppliers that IntraFish spoke to echoed this view.
“It is very welcome, it’s a positive sign of an investment in Grimsby," Steve Norton, who heads the FMA, said.
