Stolt-Nielsen founder Jacob Stolt-Nielsen will step down from his role next week, the company announced Tuesday.

In addition to a vast shipping empire, Stolt-Nielsen was a pioneer in the aquaculture sector: he first established Stolt Sea Farm in 1972, which would later become one of the world's largest salmon producers. The company became part of the Marine Harvest empire in 2006, when it and Nutreco sold out their shares in Marine Harvest to Pan Fish, the first step in John Fredriksen's creation of the largest salmon farming company in the world.
