Norwegian salmon giant SalMar’s owner Gustav Witzoe acquired 11.47 percent of aquaculture technology company Benchmark through his holding company Kverva.

Benchmark signed a long-term agreement with SalMar in 2017 for the supply of genetics to the company, but the Witzoe family had no direct participation in the company prior to Tuesday's announcement.

The London-listed company's largest shareholder is Norwegian investment company Ferd, which has a 26 percent stake in Benchmark.

On June 13, Benchmark secured a bond issue of $95 million (€84 million) with DNB to refinance its $90 million (€79 million) credit facility.
