The Canadian Sablefish Association, The Canadian Studies Center and the School of Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences are co-sponsoring a panel discussion on the pros and cons of sablefish and halibut fish farming on Monday, Oct. 20 from 4:30-6:30 PM in Room 102 of the Fisheries Science Center at the University of Washington, which is located on 1122 NE Boat Street in Seattle.

Panelists for the forum include Bob Alverson, executive director of the Fishing Vessel Owner’s Association; William Dettmer of Olympic Aquaventures in Port Angeles (which is in the process of establishing black cod and halibut fish farms); Lynn Hunter of the Coastal Alliance for Aquaculture Reform; Steve Joner, a fisheries management consultant and chief biologist for the Makah Tribe; Jim Shefler, owner and founder of High Tides Seafood; and Eric Wickham, executive director of the Canadian Sablefish Association and author of Dead Fish and Fat Cats.

For
