It’s unclear just which companies might show up Tuesday to bid on struggling US aquaculture firm Local Ocean.

One man who will certainly be there is Bill Martin of Virginia-based  land-based tilapia farmer Blue Ridge Aquaculture.

“We’ll be there to simply look at the property. We’re not there to bid. I don’t know what are interests are now until we see the facility," Martin told IntraFish.

Although fish are still in its tanks and the facility is operating with a skeleton crew, Local Ocean, a much ballyhooed land-based fish farm when it opened several years ago, is effectively bankrupt, say local officials in Greenport, New York, where the facility is located.

There is confusion surrounding the involvement and whereabouts of the company’s executives, including CEO Efraim Bason and CFO Roy Ben Itzhak.
