If anything has been made abundantly clear, it is that the seafood industry needs fresh talent.

People are any business' greatest resource and strong and balanced leadership can be the difference between success and failure.

That's why IntraFish is convening its first Women in Seafood Leadership Summit on June 6 in Seattle, during the week of the SeaWeb Seafood Summit.

We're hand-picking the industry's most prominent and promising female executives to attend a limited-seating FREE event bringing together top professionals in the field to discuss one of the seafood industry’s biggest challenges: how to bring more women to the sector.

To help unleash this new talent pool into the seafood sector, we're calling on CEOs, presidents, managers and HR directors to identify their top female leaders and send them as delegates to the summit.

A recent survey conducted by IntraFish and Seafish found some major obstacles to bringing more women into the industry, and we want to gather the best minds in the industry together to help solve these challenges.

So, why should top female seafood professionals attend? Here’s just a few reasons:

  • 35 percent of women in our survey said the seafood industry lacks a support network or mentoring program. The IntraFish Women in Seafood Leadership Forum will give professionals access to a network of other elite executives that can help both them and their companies grow.
  • A majority of women in the sector say they are not clear of all the opportunities in the industry. The forum will offer insight into some of the key job areas for female professionals to advance their careers.
  • More than 70 percent of women say that old fashioned and/or male-dominated cultural attitudes are the one thing they would change to make the industry more attractive to women. IntraFish's editors will be leading Q&As and moderating frank discussions on how to overcome some of the cultural barriers in the seafood sector to ensure success.
  • The overwhelming majority of women in the sector said their work was engaging and challenging, and would recommend others enter the sector. The IntraFish Women in Seafood Leadership Forum is a great way for your best ambassadors to spread the word about the seafood industry, and bring the next generation of talent into your company.

All seafood executives should be investing in their teams -- and sending your elite female professionals to this event is one way to invest in their careers, and your company's future.

Seating is limited for the event, so please visit www.intrafishevents.com/womeninseafood to request a ticket. Once we've confirmed your place, you'll hear back with a mail letting you know that you have been registered.
