Four Faroese companies participated at the Boston Seafood Show (March 14-16); Bakkafrost, Luna, Salmex and Primafisk. They were accompanied by representatives from the Faroese foreign affairs ministry.
“The U.S. market is of huge interest for Faroese exporters. In 2009 Faroese producers fetched an average of DKK 2 ((€0.26/$0.36) more per kilo on the American market compared with the best they could manage on the European market. In addition the U.S. market is bigger than all of the European market combined. That’s why we see plenty of potential in this market,” said Faroese foreign affairs minister, Jorgen Niclasen, in regard to the Boston trade fair, where more than 16,000 people from more than 90 countries took part.
