In the last year, demand for chilled wild salmon in the United Kingdom has increased significantly, rising 20.9 percent by volume and 26.6 percent by value, according to market analysts Kantar Worldpanel.

“In fact, while the total market share of chilled salmon is declining at retail, wild salmon seems to be at its peak in terms of consumer interest,” said Rebecca Wilson, Northern Europe marketing representative for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).

Overall, sales of frozen wild salmon have declined by 8 percent in the last year, however, those figures reflect a lower supply from Alaska.
