The British government, together with Blue Marine Foundation (BMF) and the Ascension Island government is planning to develop a marine reserve of the size of 234,291 square kilometers around the Ascension Island in the Atlantic Ocean, reported Tech Times.

Authorities will close down 52.6 percent of Ascension’s waters to fishing, and will monitor and implement regulations in the closed areas through satellite data coming from Oxford University and satellite intelligence firm Catapult, and patrol boats that will navigate through the island both in the restricted and unrestricted zones.
