Trident wins manufacturing award
Company recognized for reducing waste and other sustainability efforts.
Trident Seafoods was one 18 companies honored at Seattle Business Magazine's annual Washington Manufacturing Awards gala on Friday.
Trident took home the award for Food/Beverage Processor of the Year.
The magazine recognized the company for its commitment to sustainability in its operations.
"Trident has been making a big push to reduce waste and get more from the seafood it processes. At its Anacortes plant, Trident implemented more than a dozen measures, such as recycling breading and batter waste as livestock feed. It cut energy consumption by 20 percent, reduced indoor dust and outdoor odors, and increased production by 12 percent," the magazine said.
Trident's efforts to turn fish waste into fish oil and fishmeal and aspects of its new facility in Georgia were also praised by the magazine.
