Icelandic fishing giant Samherji has acquired a 40 percent stake in Norwegian fishing company Eskoy through its German subsidiary Icefresh GmbH.

Honningsvag, Norway-based Eskoy owns the vessels Valdimar H and Trygve B, and holds cod quotas of 537 metric tons and 197 metric tons, respectively, for this year. The former also has a permit to harvest snow crab.

Shareholders and brothers Hrafn and Helgi Sigvaldason will still own 60 percent of the company through a new group, Eskoy Holding.
