Kazuo Ito has joined the board of Mitsubishi-owned Princes, the United Kingdom-based seafood canning giant, the latest in a series of board shuffles at the group.

Three other board members have stepped down, according to separate filings at UK Companies House.

Nicholas John Spruyt, Wataru Kato and Takeshi Arakawa are no longer directors.

Last year Princes pledged to reduce its yellowfin tuna sourcing in the Indian Ocean by 50 percent - more than 16,000 metric tons - by 2022.

The stock has been overfished since 2015 and requires urgent action to reverse this trend, said the group.

In addition to Princes, Mitsubishi -- best known for automobiles -- has ownership in several other seafood groups, including salmon farming group Cermaq, which the group acquired in 2014.
