With tumbling Norwegian cod prices among the many challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the hefty quota increase for this year is “madness” according to industry players.

Prices are currently down around 30 percent compared with the same period a year ago.

“It was a slow start to the fishing, with a lot of bad weather and cod that was difficult to get hold of,” Charles Aas, director of sales at the Norwegian Fishermen Association, Rafisklaget, told IntraFish sister publication DN.
