Canada-based Cooke has been ramping up efforts to find a buyer for its Alaska groundfish processing operations, with the latest discussions taking place as recently as December, several sources familiar with the situation told IntraFish.

Though Cooke has reportedly had discussions with potential buyers stretching back over a year, the company increased those efforts in 2020, including most recently discussions with Japanese seafood giant Maruha Nichiro, which operates groundfish facilities in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, where Icicle's Northern Victor processing vessel is permanently moored.
