Seafood Expo North America (SENA), also known as the Boston seafood show, has been scheduled for July 11-July 13, 2021, according to Diversified Communications, the organizers of the show.

The organizers previously set the date for March 14-16, 2021, after canceling the event for 2020.

“While the summer is an untraditional time of year for this event, we are pleased to have been able to find new dates in 2021 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center that will allow our seafood community to gather once again,” said Liz Plizga, Diversified Communications VP.

“We’ve had conversations with seafood buyers and industry professionals who have expressed the need to reconnect and are eager to meet in-person in July.”

The company plan on maintaining its traditional trade show format for SENA. However, the organizers will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely to ensure health and safety in the event.

The 2021 edition of Seafood Expo Global (SEG) is also postponed to later in the year. SEG, originally planned for April 27 - 29, is now scheduled for Sept. 7 - 9 at the Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.

Diversified previously said it plans to host the 2022 editions of both events in the same time frame as in past years – in March 2022 for SENA and in April 2022 for SEG.

The entire global trade show sector has been suffering under COVID restrictions. According to a report from PwC, the US trade show market alone will see exhibition spending plummet by $10 billion (€8.5 billion) this year, a 64 percent decline compared to 2019.
