Salmon prices are currently at a record low, and while they are expected to increase towards Christmas, it is highly unlikely prices will reach anywhere near the levels seen last year, according to Lars Daniel Garshol, senior analyst at Kontali.
The pre-Christmas period is one of the most important seasons for salmon sales across Europe. Norwegian exports reach their highest levels between September and November, when European processors produce smoked salmon and other goods for the Christmas trade.
