New Bedford-based seafood company Mariner Seafood LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a US bankruptcy court in Massachusetts, leaving millions owed to key seafood suppliers across several countries.

The company, which supplies a range of fresh and frozen products to retail and foodservice suppliers, listed some of the largest names in the US seafood sector among its unsecured creditors, including Stavis Seafoods, Seafreeze, Seatrade, Ocean's Fleet Fisheries and New Jersey-based Eastern Fish Company (*Corrected: See editor's note below).
