With high capital investments required to get land-based systems up and running and a high risk of losses, major aquaculture companies and investors alike shied away from the segment.
That’s changed dramatically. With advances in technology and limitations on growth in the salmon farming sector, investors have thrown themselves into the industry -- some might say a little too quickly.
