The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) awarded Chilean salmon farmer Nova Austral the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification for its Aracena 19 salmon farm site in Region de Magallanes.
Assurance firm SAI Global audited Nova Austral's farm against the BAP standard in early June for environmental responsibility, social accountability, animal welfare, food safety and traceability.
Nova Austral has committed all of its other salmon farms and new hatchery to apply for the BAP certification program.
