Chile's pelagic fishing season for anchovy and sardines in the south central zone has come to a close, according to Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca).

As usual for July, the closure for these species to reproduce, will continue through October 4, whereby fishing fleets may resume operations.

More than 370 vessels participated in the fishing season catching about 300,000 metric tons of pelagic fish, which will be supplied to processing plants in the region.
