Shrimp industry sources say they are noticing an uptick in demand from the US foodservice sector but there is still a long way to go before things return to normal.

Since March, restaurants, bars and cafes have been closed or operating only delivery and online services under government restrictions designed to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Depending what side of the industry your business is on and what percentage accounts for foodservice, business levels are running at between 50-100 percent of where they were before the pandemic struck compared with 10-50 percent four weeks ago, said Bill Hoenig, vice president of sales and operations at Delta Blue Aquaculture and renowned shrimp market authority.
