The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) called out the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) for its certification process for an Atlantic bluefin tuna fishery, saying the process provides a "dangerous incentive to the market" and compromises long-term stock recovery.

The Usufuku Honten Northeast Atlantic bluefin tuna fishery has yet to be certified and is currently in assessment by the assessors Control Union Pesca Ltd., an MSC spokesperson told IntraFish.

The longline fishery, a single-vessel with a quota to catch 200 to 400 bluefin tuna in the Eastern Atlantic, is in the final stages of the independent assessment.
