A study released this month by environmental researchers with the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) says the processing of Alaska pollock into fish sticks, imitation crab, and fish fillets generates significant greenhouse gas emissions.
The post-catch processing generates nearly twice the emissions produced by fishing itself, which is typically where the analysis of the climate impact of seafood ends, say the authors behind the findings released this week.
