Chicken of the Sea International (COSI) says the fact it blew the whistle in the US Department of Justice investigation into price fixing in the US tuna industry protects the company from suffering the same fate as fellow producer Bumble Bee, which last week filed for bankruptcy.

Its cooperation in the investigation means that the Thai Union-owned company will not be prosecuted and will not have to pay a fine.
