Antibiotic use in the UK salmon and trout sectors dropped significantly in 2018, according to a new report from the Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance (RUMA).

The salmon sector saw a dramatic 69 percent drop to 1,011.3 kilograms, thanks to a reduction in the number of treatments required in the seawater phase of production.

However, although the numbers are good, Iain Berrill, one of the reports authors, told IntraFish that antiobiotic use in fish farming is not a simple equation.
