Researchers on a vaccine project aimed at reducing salmon lice claim they have promising results from a study that uses antibodies from chicken eggs to immunize the fish.

In March 2019, the Norwegian Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund announced NOK 64 million ($6.96 million/€6.28 million) worth of funding was going into research for salmon lice, its biggest commitment to the issue yet.

The vaccine project is run by agricultural company Felleskjopet Fodrutvikling through research and vaccination company Norifish. It takes a simple approach to vaccination, Oystein Evensen, research manager for the project and professor at Norwegian University of Life Sciences, told IntraFish.
