Argentina's seafood industry is accusing neighboring Brazil of blocking its exports of shrimp and hake by deploying non-tariff barriers.

The fact it is having to make the accusation is seen as particularly galling for the Argentine industry, which believed its products would be able to enter Brazil following a ruling allowing consignments of Ecuadorian shrimp to enter Brazil.

"Our main partner in Mercosur continues to hinder us from exporting," fishing and cold storage industry trade body (Capeca) manager Eduardo Luis Roman said in a post on his Linkedin page after earlier confirming the situation to IntraFish.
