Two of the largest salmon farmers in Norway, Leroy Seafood and Grieg Seafood, this week reported disappointing quarterly numbers, but the companies have the potential to turn things around with their plans to grow larger smolt, Danske Bank's Knut-Ivar Bakken told IntraFish.

Leroy Seafood was hit by lower-than-expected margins and higher costs in Northern Norway operations related to an algal bloom earlier this year as well as a fire at its Aurora hatchery in Laksefjord, Norway.

"It will continue to trend back to normal because these are only temporary events," Bakken said.
