It's not clear yet how genetically modified (GM) salmon will fit into seafood's growing sustainability movement, but reactions to the new product were mixed during a panel at Seafood Expo North America (SENA) that took a closer look at what consumers want.

"We need to do more investigation into it," said Shelley Zhang, seafood commodity manager at Kroger, of what some Alaska politicians have deemed a 'frankenfish' because it is the only genetically-engineered animal for food use that has FDA approval.
