Leading Brazilian fish canner Gomes da Costa expects to open the world's largest integrated seafood cannery in the next three to four years, CEO Gomes da Costa Enrique Orge told IntraFish in an exclusive interview.

The company unveiled a BRL 1 billion ($240 million/€206 million) investment over 10 years in the fish canning hub of Itajaí in Brazil's southern Santa Catarina state in October 2017.

It is currently weighed down with notorious Brazilian bureaucracy as the company navigates the environmental impact phase of the approvals process.
