To say the US smoked salmon market is crowded is an understatement.

Depending on where you shop, you could easily come across brands such as Vita, Acme, Spence & Co., MacKnight, Ducktrap, Foppen, St. James, Santa Barbara Smokehouse, Trident, SeaBear, Trans Ocean, Admiral’s, True North, Pacific Seafood, Changing Seas, Latitude 45 and others.

There is no nationally dominant brand of smoked salmon at retail. It’s not uncommon for a retailer to carry as many as six or more SKUs, across several different brands, of different smoked salmon.
