Land-based yellowtail kingfish producer The Kingfish Company on Wednesday announced the appointment of Jean-Charles Valette as chief financial officer.

Valette, who takes over in September, is replacing former CFO Christo du Pleiss, who departed The Kingfish Company to take on the role of CEO at Icelandic land-based Arctic char producer Matorka.

Valette has held various financial leadership positions at food and production companies, both in listed and private companies. Most recently, he worked as the vice-president finance at electric scooter startup, Dott. Prior to this role, he worked as senior vice president finance at global logistics and supply chain company CEVA.

Driven by continued strong demand The Kingfish Company more than doubled sales in the first quarter of 2022.

The company, with production in the Netherlands and a second farm being built in the United States, reported revenues rocketing 147 percent from €1.5 million ($1.6 million) to €3.7 million ($4 million) on the sale of 319 metric tons of fish, a 130 percent increase on the same period last year, and rising prices.
