South American fishmeal producer Austral Group said it expects a new $10 million (€9.7 million) anchovy trawler to bolster its fleet in Peruvian waters in the coming weeks.
The vessel, built in Norway and sailing under the name of VEA, will start operating in the second anchovy fishing season in 2022.
It will also be capable of landing mackerel and horse mackerel.
The trawler will replace two other fishing boats in the Austral fleet with a combined capacity of 1,300 cubic meters, as part of a modernization of the fleet aimed at meeting Peruvian maritime authority requirements.
