Genetically modified salmon producer AquaBounty saw a dramatic uptick in sales of its land-based farmed salmon in the first quarter as it begins to slowly build up its production capacity.

Revenue for the first quarter rose to $963,000 (€916,133), up significantly from the $74,000 (€70,399) the same period last year.

AquaBounty harvested 133 tons of salmon at its farms in Albany, Indiana, and Prince Edward Island, Canada, a 46 percent increase over the first quarter of 2021, AquaBounty CEO Sylvia Wulf said.
