The British Frozen Foods Federation (BFFF) is ratcheting up pressure on the UK government of Boris Johnson to deliver an electronic certification system for imported products as soon as possible.

With those transporting seafood facing unnecessary and costly delays at border posts following Brexit, the situation is expected to become critical in November when physical sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) checks and health certificates will be required to bring seafood into the United Kingdom from the European Union.

The threat of these delays has prompted British Frozen Foods Federation (BFFF) CEO Richard Harrow to write to the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) calling for a specific timeline on the introduction of an electronic system.
