United Arab Emirates (UAE) land-based salmon farmer Ocean Harvest signed a partnership with Belgian construction group Besix and UAE-based industrial group Tech Group for the development of a land-based salmon farm near the capital of Abu Dhabi.
The companies entered a strategic partnership last month to design and operate a high-tech salmon farm set to supply 2,000 metric tons of locally grown, Atlantic salmon per annum to the UAE market.
While management is keen to primarily target the UAE-market, going forward, the partners are "geography-agnostics" and could expand to Asia, Europe and North America, CEO and co-founder Haytham Shanshal and CSO and co-founder Robert Kupstas told IntraFish in a joint interview.
