Peru's first anchovy season in southern waters will start this week with a quota of 486,500 metric tons, following a decision by the country's Ministry of Production (Produce).

The season will end June 30 or when the quota is reached.

This date may be modified depending on biological and environmental conditions, the statement added.

In November, Produce authorized a 2.047 million-metric-ton anchovy quota for the second season of 2021 in north central waters - the main fishery.
