While it is true that fortunes in the farmed salmon industry appear to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride, in the bigger picture the industry is actually one of the most stable and promising in the world.

This was the message delivered by industry veteran and DNB Senior Advisor Dag Sletmo to Norwegian students at the annual 'Sea Day' in Bodo, northern Norway last month.

"Experience shows that aquaculture can be perceived as riskier than it is, as it often ends up where it started," said the former Cermaq-executive and AGB Sundal Collier analyst.
