Norway-based salmon farming giant Mowi is welcoming back workers to one of its Canadian processing facilities after the facility was closed around 18 months ago in an effort to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Mowi has been operating its plant in the northern British Columbia village of Klemtu thanks to a longtime partnership with the Kitasoo/Xai'Xais First Nations band that dates back to 1998.

Mowi operates six salmon farms in Kitasoo/Xai’Xais territory with an average annual harvest of 5,000 metric tons of salmon.
