Faroe islands-based salmon producer Bakkafrost says it holding back on plans to follow in the footsteps of Norway's SalMar and others by farming offshore, instead choosing to invest in spare capacity and reap the "payback" from producing larger hatchery fish.

Last week, a number of analysts, bankers and other stakeholders were in the Faroe Islands, where Bakkafrost arranged a three-day capital markets event, including a visit to the company's head office in Glyvrar, where Bakkafrost CEO Regin Jacobsen gave those present a review of his thoughts on new technology.
