Some of Norway's richest individuals, whose investments include salmon farming giant SalMar, whitefish group Insula, Broodstock Capital and the newly established offshore aquaculture joint venture with Aker Group, are partnering to invest in a land-based salmon project, bucking the recent trend of investor reluctance to buy deeper into the sector.

Investment groups Kverva and Ferd, together with other investors, are anchoring a NOK 162 million ($18.7 million/€16 million) investment in Columbi Salmon, the first investments among the group in land-based salmon production.
