Japanese seafood giant Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui) has taken control of a UK seafood processor, the latest in the group's expansion in the country.

Nissui, Japan's second-largest seafood company, announced it had acquired 75 percent control of Hull-based processor and distributor Three Oceans Fishing.

Three Oceans Fishing supplies the foodservice and retail sector with frozen natural, battered and value-added whitefish, primarily haddock and cod.

In addition, the company operates cold storage and distribution services.

Nissui is already well established in Europe and the United Kingdom, with subsidiaries including including Cite Marine, Nordic Seafood, Halieutis, Europacifico and JP Klausen.
