Spanish fisheries giant Nueva Pescanova said it is building a new €7 million ($8.5 million) processing plant in Peru.

The 8,000 square meter plant will process around 12,700 metric tons of seafood, including cuttlefish, octopus and mahi.

The plant, which will also produce surimi, is expected to begin operating before the end of 2021.

Situated in the the port of Pucusana, the Novaperu site already employs 170 people.
